STRATEGIC PUBLICATIONS TOWARDS SCOPUS A KEY TARGET OF CTUMP

With tireless efforts from the scientific research and international cooperation office as well as the precise orientation and guidance from the rector’s council, CTUMP plans to publish more international articles on the Scopus database, further enhancing our position on the international ranking list in the near future.

Scopus is a bibliographic database of abstracts and citations of scientific articles, built in November 2004 and owned by Elsevier Publishing House (Netherlands), for paid online subscriptions. Scopus contains 57 million abstracts, nearly 22,000 categories from more than 5,000 publishers, of which more than 30,000 are peer-reviewed journals in Science, Engineering, Health, Society, Arts, and Humanities. To be listed on the Scopus list, journals were strictly selected.

The evaluation of the Excellence index with data extracted from large and reputable databases like Scopus can greatly help raise the index score as well as our school's ranking on Webometrics. Therefore, lecturers in CTUMP have been active in scientific research and international cooperation recently to publish more international articles in prestigious journals that belonged to the Scopus database. Publishing articles on Scopus has been set as an important goal for CTUMP in recent years.

Therefore, fruitful results have been achieved. We already have an official university account on Scopus with the ID: 60118264 and the name: “Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy”. There are currently 126 articles by CTUMP in the Scopus data updated to the end of September 2020. This shows that the number of international articles has increased a lot compared to the previous period.

In order to continue the acceleration and development, scientific research and international cooperation office has started to hold more related workshops this year. A workshop on "CTUMP - Scientific publication and university ranking around the world" was taken place on August 14^th, 2020. Its main discussion was about how to find useful information on Scopus as well as search relevant journals by field and rank the journals to publish research results. Besides, together with the advisory and supporting board of the international articles’ publication, a serial workshop named "Writing articles in the medical and pharmaceutical field" was held on August 27^th, 2020, with the participation of more than 120 lecturers and students. After the workshop, the number of authors who registered for the advisory board to support international publication increased.
