On the morning of September 3rd, 2025, the delegation from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, led by Assoc. Prof. Tran Viet An, together with representatives from various faculties and departments, visited the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya (Malaysia), to exchange experiences in education, scientific research, innovative entrepreneurship, and AUN-QA standard program development.

The objective of this visit focused on sharing experiences in teaching, scientific research, and entrepreneurship, as well as in developing academic programs that meet AUN-QA standards, thereby fostering a comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term partnership between the two institutions.

The University of Malaya – A Leading Partner in the Region

The University of Malaya is currently ranked in the Top 100 of the QS World University Rankings, affirming its leading position in Malaysia and the region. Among its units, the Faculty of Pharmacy is a pioneer, ranked 72nd globally, with 66 full-time staff members, all of whom hold doctoral degrees.

Extensive Exchange and Consensus on Long-Term Collaboration
During the working session, the two sides held open discussions and reached high consensus on establishing a strategic cooperation framework, focusing on key areas:

  • Student and faculty exchange to expand opportunities for learning, doing research, cultural exchange, and professional development.
  • Organizing intensive short-term training courses on scientific research and innovative entrepreneurship to equip high-quality human resources with practical skills.
  • Sharing experiences in building and evaluating AUN-QA standard academic programs, contributing to improved education quality and integration with regional and international benchmarks.

Impressions from Modern Facilities

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Pharmacy’s facilities at the University of Malaya. The delegation highly valued its smart lecture halls, modern laboratories, advanced digital library, and creative learning spaces — fundamental elements that nurture research passion and innovation among both faculty and students.

A Starting Point for Strategic and Sustainable Cooperation

The visit opened up many important directions for collaboration, ranging from faculty and student exchanges, joint training initiatives, and research projects, to international publications and knowledge transfer.

In particular, the University of Malaya’s valuable experiences in building AUN-QA standard academic programs will serve as a critical reference for Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to gradually improve and enhance its training quality, aiming toward program accreditation at both regional and international levels in the near future.

This cooperation is expected to significantly contribute to the training of high-quality pharmaceutical human resources to meet the increasing healthcare demands of modern society, while affirming the university’s determination on its path of international integration and regional advancement.
