On August 6, 2025, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in collaboration with Professor Susan Elizabeth Matthews from the University of Sheffield (the United Kingdom), held a specialized workshop entitled “Skills for developing question banks” for faculty members across the university.

On August 6, 2025, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in collaboration with Professor Susan Elizabeth Matthews from the University of Sheffield (the United Kingdom), held a specialized workshop entitled “Skills for developing question banks” for faculty members across the university.

The workshop aimed to update methodologies for constructing and standardizing course assessment question banks, equipping lecturers with enhanced skills to design multiple-choice examinations that accurately assess learners’ competencies. At the workshop, Professor Susan Matthews delivered presentations on techniques for developing questions across various cognitive levels, the processes of assessment standardization, and shared international best practices. She also addressed common challenges encountered in building multiple-choice question banks.

In addition to the academic content, Professor Susan Matthews provided direct feedback on the university’s existing question banks and introduced the recognition systems and curriculum design processes used in health sciences education in the United Kingdom.

The event attracted a large number of lecturers from different CTUMP’s faculties and centers, including those responsible for training international students, fostering a dynamic platform for academic exchange. The workshop not only enhanced the professional capacity of the teaching staff but also strengthened opportunities for collaborative research and continuous improvement of educational quality between Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the University of Sheffield, the United Kingdom.
