CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY RANKS AMONG THE TOP 200 PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN ASIA ACCORDING TO THE APPLIEDHE 2026 RANKINGS

According to the latest results, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) is placed in the 191–200 band in Asia, ranks 60th out of 115 public universities in Southeast Asia, and stands 6th out of 16 public universities in Viet Nam. Within the field of health sciences, two Vietnamese institutions are listed in the rankings: CTUMP and Hanoi Medical University. Reaching the 191–200 band also marks CTUMP’s achievement of its 2025 strategic goal of becoming a national key university and being listed among the top 500 universities in Southeast Asia, reflecting the university’s sustained efforts in innovation, integration, and sustainable development.
AppliedHE, operated since 2021 by the Singapore-based education technology organization, evaluates universities using data from two sources: self-reported institutional data covering eight indicators related to academic staff, students, internationalization, and graduate employment outcomes; and independently verified external data, including official Google Scholar institutional profiles, employer reputation surveys, and student experience surveys.
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy maintains a stable and highly qualified academic workforce, including both domestic and international experts, while also attracting a large number of Vietnamese and international students. Each year, the university produces graduates with high employment rates, along with a significant proportion pursuing postgraduate studies. These outcomes underscore the university’s comprehensive development strategy, spanning faculty capacity building, curriculum innovation, expansion of international cooperation, strengthening of clinical training, and enhancement of student support services.
The university’s strong performance in the rankings not only reinforces CTUMP’s reputation and brand within the regional higher education landscape but also provides motivation for its staff, expands opportunities for learners, and strengthens public trust in the university’s quality of education, research, healthcare and community service.
