CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY RANKS AMONG THE TOP 220 GREEN UNIVERSITIES IN ASIA AND MOVES UP BY 121 PLACES GLOBALLY IN THE UI GREENMETRIC 2025 RANKINGS

According to the latest results, the University ranks 389th out of 1,547 higher education institutions worldwide, a significant improvement of 121 places compared to 2024 (up from 510th out of 1,477). At the regional level, the University is positioned 218th among 864 higher education institutions in Asia (compared to 277th in 2024), reaffirming its steady year-on-year progress in sustainability performance. This achievement also marks CTUMP’s successful attainment of being listed among the top 500 universities in Southeast Asia. It reflects the University’s sustained efforts in innovation, integration, and sustainable development aligned with its strategic directions.

UI GreenMetric is a reputable international ranking system that assesses the sustainability performance of higher education institutions worldwide based on six key criteria: infrastructure and landscape; energy and climate change; waste management; water management; transportation systems; and education and research for sustainability. Recognition in this ranking demonstrates a university’s commitment to green governance, emission reduction, and the promotion of sustainability in education.

In recent years, the University has proactively developed and enhanced a green learning environment through coordinated expansion of green spaces; investment in renewable energy solutions; strengthened water-saving initiatives; waste sorting and recycling; promotion of green mobility; and awareness-raising activities on environmental protection. At the same time, sustainability-focused content has been actively integrated into teaching, research, and community engagement.

The University’s strong advancement in the UI GreenMetric rankings reinforces its reputation in sustainable development while underpinning its long-term strategic ambition to become a modern, environmentally friendly national key university that serves public health and supports the green development of the Mekong Delta region.
