CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY WORKED WITH THE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY, THE UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

On the afternoon of November 24, 2025, a delegation from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) visited and worked at the School of Pharmacy – The University of Queensland (UQ), one of the leading prestigious pharmaceutical training and research units in Australia. The trip was implemented to strengthen international cooperation, expand academic links and promote strategic training programs and research projects between the two universities.

The CTUMP delegation led by Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Pham Minh Thu - Deputy Director of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, along with key leaders from many units of the university, including: Associate Professor, Dr. Do Chau Minh Vinh Tho - Deputy Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Associate Professor. Dr. Do Thi Thao, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Odonto - Stomatology; Dr. Nguyen Nhu Nghia, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Nguyen Tan Dat - Deputy Dean of Faculty of Public Health; Dr. Pham Hoang Khanh - Deputy Director of the Center for Services and Training for social needs, MSc. Tran Bich Ngoc - Chief of Office of the Center for Medical Education and Medical Skills Training.

On behalf of the School of Pharmacy, the University of Queensland welcomed the delegation of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy with Prof. Dr. Peter Cabot, Principal of the School of Pharmacy, The University of Queensland and Ms. Donna Guest, Senior Manager of External Affairs and International Cooperation.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Chau Minh Vinh Tho gave an overview of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, its training programs, scientific research activities and technology transfer activities and proposed key cooperation directions to strengthen the connection between the two units, including: short-term exchange programs for students; teaching and professional development activities for lecturers; master and doctoral training; academic guidance; organizing scientific conferences; and developing joint research projects in the fields of PK/PD analysis, TDM, drug toxicity assessment by LC-MS/MS, natural product research and clinical pharmacy. These are the directions of cooperation with great potential for cooperation and development in the coming time.

The two sides discussed and agreed on signing a comprehensive cooperation MoU in 2026 to promote cooperation in postgraduate training, especially the master's program in pharmaceutical industry and drug development; teaching and academic exchange among lecturers and students; doctoral training for school staff under Project 89 and especially the cooperation project on PK/PD evaluation, TDM and screening of medicinal plants for cancer treatment in Vietnam and Australia.

         The visit and work at the School of Pharmacy – The University of Queensland, Australia marked an important step in CTUMP's strategy to promote international cooperation. The two sides expect that the initial agreements and exchanges will soon be realized, contributing to the development of high-quality pharmaceutical human resources and the expansion of the international research network in the coming time.
