Students from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Receive the VAW Global Vietnam Scholarship,U.S.A, 2025

Nguyen Quang Thai (Class of 47, General Medicine) and Nguyen Vo Diem Quynh (Class of 47, Dentistry) have been awarded the “VAW Global Vietnam Scholarship” to participate in the VAW Global Outreach Internship Trip in Summer.

This 15-day medical outreach, from June 17, 2025 to July 1, 2025, offers interns the opportunity to gain insights into global healthcare while experiencing full immersion in a new culture and language. During the program, interns will also learn about disease diagnosis, treatment courses, clinic operations, and basic pharmacology through shadowing, enhancing their understanding of healthcare in a global context.

Nguyen Quang Thai, a student from the class of 47 in General Medicine, has shown exceptional academic performance, and a deep passion for global health. One of his notable contributions is a research paper titled “Antibacterial efficacy of low-dosage silver nanoparticle-sodium alginate-chitosan nanocomposite films against pure and clinical acne strains at Can Tho Central General Hospital”.

In addition to his academic achievements, Thai has been actively engaged in volunteer and extracurricular activities, especially in community health programs. He played essential roles as an interpreter and volunteer in the activities in 2023 and 2024 of the Supporting Student Team for the External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) in particular and of CTUMP's students in general, such as with VAW Global Health Alliances – U.S.A, Medical Education Exchange Teams (MEET) – U.S.A, and the exchange program with international student delegations from Australia (Central Queensland University - CQU)…

Furthermore, Thai was selected as a delegate to attend several prestigious conferences, including the AIESEC Leadership Conference (2023), UNICEF Youth-Led Action Initiative (2024), and TEDxCTUMP (2023). Other achievements include the Second Prize and Encouragement Award at the Youth Scientific Conference (2024).

Nguyen Vo Diem Quynh, a fourth-year student majoring in Odonto-Stomatology, has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, achieving a GPA of 3.42/4.0. She was nominated for her significant contributions to CTUMP and faculty support.

In addition to her academic achievements, she has actively contributed to various community and international health programs. She has served as a coordinator, volunteer, and interpreter in the activities in 2023 and 2024 of the Supporting Student Team for the External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) in particular and of CTUMP's students in general, such as with VAW Global Health Alliances – U.S.A, Alliance for Smiles – U.S.A, and Medical Education Exchange Team (MEET) – U.S.A... In these activities, she has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and teamwork skills, making valuable contributions to public health initiatives.

 

Through their outstanding achievements and contributions, both Nguyen Quang Thai and Nguyen Vo Diem Quynh, stand as a source of pride, exemplifying the exceptional quality of education at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. At the same time, they serve as a strong source of inspiration, motivating future generations of students to continue striving and actively engage in public health initiatives, as well as international scholarship and programs.
