WORKING SESSION BETWEEN CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY AND THE DELEGATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY VIETNAM INSTITUTE

On February 18th, 2025, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy had a working session with the delegation of the University of Sydney Vietnam Institute. This is an important activity within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between the University of Sydney and Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the fields of education and health.
The meeting took place in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere. Delegates from both sides had the opportunity to discuss many important issues, from improving the quality of training to expanding joint research projects.

PhD. NGUYEN Van Cuong, the University of Sydney Vietnam Institute, Senior Specialist in Project Coordinator of the Antibiotic Resistance and One Health Branch presented on the Antibiotic Resistance and One Health Branch within the SAPPHIRE overall project. He also discussed the project implementation cooperation plan with representatives of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
PhD. NGUYEN Giang, University of Sydney Vietnam, Senior Specialist in Project Coordinator of Antibiotic Resistance and One Health Branch, introduced the Antibiotic Resistance and One Health Branch Project.
The discussion on project implementation took place with the participation of all delegates. The delegates made various discussions and suggestions to improve and promote the project in the future. Assoc. Prof. VO Pham Minh Thu (Deputy Director of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital), Assoc. Prof. PHAM Thanh Suol (Dean of Pharmacy Faculty, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy), PhD. NGUYEN Tan Dat (Vice- Dean of Public Health Faculty, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy), PhD. NGUYEN Thi Hai Yen (Head of Microbiology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy) and PhD. TRAN Thai Thanh Tam (Vice-Dean of Medicine Faculty, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy) from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy agreed with the opinions of experts from the University of Sydney Vietnam and emphasized the role of the University in supporting training and community sample collection.

Prof. PhD. NGUYEN Trung Kien summarized the working meeting and emphasized that Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the provinces of the Mekong Delta, so the University can support the connection with the provinces to conduct sample collection. In addition, Prof. PhD. NGUYEN Trung Kien also proposed expanding research in other provinces to highlight the disease research model in the Mekong Delta and cooperate in guiding postgraduate students of the University or providing scholarships for University staff to study at the University of Sydney.
Prof. PhD. NGUYEN Trung Kien, Rector of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, summarized the working meeting and made important recommendations.

The meeting has strengthened the sustainable cooperation between the two sides, promising to bring many positive results in the future. The University of Sydney Vietnam Institute and Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy will continue to work closely to achieve common goals, contributing to improving the quality of education and healthcare in Vietnam.
