Online conference "Strategies to improve the quality of Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy"

On May 27th, 2022, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy held the conference of "Strategies to improve the quality of Can Tho Medical Journal". The conference was organized virtually. The speakers of the conference were members of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences Asia of Mahidol University (Thailand) and Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. PhD. NGUYEN Van Lam, Vice Rector of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, remarked: In recent years, Vietnamese health sciences journals in general and Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University in particular, show strong steps forwards with the quality of scientific works and attempts at reaching the standards of international journals. Facing new imperatives aimed towards sustainable development, Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy has been strategizing to grow in the context of deep integration with scientific research activities in the region and the world. 

To improve the quality of the University Journal, it was necessary to have high effort, great motivation, and coordination of many parties. Prioritizing the proper investment of financial and human resources to create long-term development momentum for journals. At the same time, creating mechanisms and policies to attract international researchers to the editorial board; Renewing both the form, content and process of editing articles in the journal in accordance with the standards and regulations of the university's journals and towards international standards; Focusing on the development and improvement of websites, management software, and promotion of communication.

At the workshop, participants shared valuable experiences, proposed practical solutions to a number of important issues such as: the role of the Rector Board, leaders of units in facilitating and supporting journals; investment of financial and human resources; attracting quality works from domestic and international researchers for publication; innovation in regulations and procedures for receiving, reviewing and editing articles following the general standards of the University towards the ASEAN CITATION INDEX (ACI) and SCOPUS international standards.

The speakers in the conference included members of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences Asia of the Mahidol University (Thailand) and Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy.
